Safety in the Stands During Meets
Watch where you walk in the stands – please use the stairways and aisles as much as possible instead of walking up and down through the seats. It is easy to get a leg caught when walking through the seating areas.
Be careful when opening or closing umbrellas, pop-ups, ice chests, bags, etc. Be careful of other spectators who may be above, below or around you.
Do not go under the stands at tracks where the underneath section is exposed.
During a meet, all athletes, volunteers and coaches must not stand or walk past the front of the timing tent, and keep away from areas that are fenced off. Please do not go around, over or under fencing or other barriers.
Be careful when leaning over the fence – the farthest lane can be very close to the fence and you may be impeding an athlete using that lane.
Please clean up any garbage before leaving the area at the end of the day.
Safety at the track and field events
Do not throw things or play games on the field when waiting for events at a track meet. It hinders the work of the coaches, the volunteers and the athletes who are warming up. The field is for warming up and moving to the appropriate event, for coaches, and for volunteers working the meet.
All pits, hurdles and other equipment are off limits at all times unless being used in a coach-supervised activity, whether during meets or practices.
Look carefully before crossing the track in practice or at a meet! Give yourself plenty of time to get across. Don’t try to run across quickly as the athletes are coming towards you. Wait until they have passed and then cross, especially in a meet.
Watch where you are standing and walking during field event practice and at meets. Be sure to stay out of the way of the long jump, high jump and shot put areas while they are practicing. Spectators need to be aware at all times. Do not cross the long jump or high jump runway or come close to the shot put circle or pit.
Only coaches, athletes and volunteers are allowed on the track and field areas of COC during practices and meets. Parents who are not volunteering on the field and spectators must remain in the stands.

The Lightning Warriors would like to say thank you to the College of the Canyons for the use of their fabulous facilities!
